When a delivery partner makes a delivery, on-demand food delivery apps normally give the customer the opportunity to rate the service that they were provided with. They can rate their overall experience with the driver, and the rating will remain on the driver's permanent ratings record. Many on-demand food delivery apps have a minimum ratings record that their drivers must maintain in order to stay active on the platform. Do Postmates drivers get rated?
Postmates does not have customer ratings
Postmates used to have a rating system that was used for Postmates delivery partners. Customers were always able to rate the driver that delivered their food. Postmates no longer allows their customers to rate the drivers. Postmates decided that drivers should not be held accountable for things that are out of their control. Customers can now leave a thumbs up or thumbs down, but this does not impact the driver's ability to partner with Postmates or not.
Why did Postmates get rid of their customer ratings?
Instead of ratings doing to the speaking for how well a driver is doing, Postmates decided a while back that customer tips would do the talking. If customers are satisfied, they will tip the driver. If they are not satisfied, they will not leave a tip. It is as simple as that.
Also, with Postmates and all other similar type apps, the customer rating the driver system does not seem to work. Even though most all other apps besides Postmates still use a rating system, it really is something that should completely be done away with.
How often do delivery partners get unfair ratings? All the time! Many customers leave a driver bad ratings over things that the driver has no control over. Maybe the restaurant took a long time to prepare the food, and the customer felt that the delivery took too long. Maybe they just did not like the food. After eating the food, they may also think that the delivery fee was too much. There are a lot of other reasons that customers may leave unfair bad ratings. These are just a few examples.
Can Postmates drivers get deactivated for poor service?
What many Postmates drivers used to fear in the past with the rating system was getting deactivated. There was a minimum average rating that a Postmates driver had to maintain in order to remain an active Postmates driver. I am sure that Postmates realized that this rating system that they were using was not working the way it was intended.
With that said, even with the Postmates driver rating system gone, Postmates can still deactivate a delivery partner for many reasons which is covered in the Fleet Agreement. Do not think for one moment that unprofessionalism is allowed just because the rating system has been done away with.
Postmates delivery partners are still expected to act in a professional manner with customers. Those that offend customers, are rude to customers or act unprofessional in any way will always be at risk of getting deactivated. Of course, the severity of the customer complaints would determine the action that Postmates would take. For the great majority of us, having no Postmates rating system gives us the security of never having to worry about getting deactivated. We will just continue to deliver those Postmates orders and try to give the best service that we can so that we can receive those good customer tips.
